The winter rye seed we sowed in December didn't germinate in time to prevent the hill from eroding, so in June we bought two small jars of centipede grass and pregerminated them for two weeks. Limed and fertilized the lawn, then rented a tractor and tilled it:

Once we'd sown the centipede grass seeds, we had to pack down the tilled soil. Maybe we should have rented the roller?
