My laboratory is currently involved with efforts to restore fire maintained oak woodlands at the Strawberry Plains Audubon Center. This research has involved reconstructing historical tree species composition in the loess plains of Marshall County, Mississippi, using land survey records, deadening and thinning off-site floodplain tree species from mature upland forests, and prescribed burning. Much of Sherry Surrette's (pictured here) research was done at SPAC.
