Project Summary: This project is a second pilot project for the testing, evaluation, and recommendation of best compaction method for the new airport (for the next generation super-sonic aircraft) that is going to be constructed on the hydraulic filled man-made island. -

Field instrumentation, monitoring and analysis of the test fill of New Seoul International Airport
Role: Chief Field Engineer/Senior Engineer
Project Summary: This project is the first pilot project (test fill) for the testing, evaluation, and recommendation of the best soft soil improving method for the clayey soft soils of the new airport that is going to be constructed on the hydraulic filled man-made island. Fully automatic field measurement and real time analysis were carried out. -

Safety evaluation of Samrangjin pumped power storage dam

Project Summary: This is a safety evaluation of cracked dam body of a pumped power storage dam. Finite element simulation, laboratory tests data, and instrumentation data were used for the analysis. It was concluded that the water level should not exceed a certain limit. -

Project Summary: This is a design of ground improvement method for the super soft soils (cohesion » 0.4 t/m2). Paper drain was designed. Special consideration was carried out for the construction method for the super soft soils. -

Safety evaluation and design of counter measures for the slope failure of U-2 crude oil storage site (Slope stability analysis and reinforcing earth anchor design)

Project Summary: This is a field investigation and design of counter measure for the slope failure of the underground oil storage site. Stabilizing earth anchors were designed. Special investigation and analysis were carried out not to damage the water curtain of the underground oil storage site. -

Design, geotechnical monitoring, and supervision of deep excavations (4 sites, average depth of excavation 75 ft.)
Role: Geotechnical Engineer/Project Coordinator
Project Summary: These are the design and construction supervising of the deep excavation. Average depth of the excavation depth is about five stories high. On one site, the excavation was carried out just 6 m aside by an existing subway tunnel. Detailed rock mapping and reinforcing grouting and rock bolts were designed and constructed. -

Project Summary: This design work includes the analysis of the diffusion of radiation by heat diffusion theory, and designing of the super deep tunnels to store the after-use nuclear fuel. -
