The O's Place
These are the personal Web pages of John, Kevie, Hudson and Maren O'Haver, if you are looking for John's professional pages, you need to go to his departmental pages. These pages will let you catch up on where we are as a family.
John began work in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Mississippi in August of 1996 and was awarded tenure and promotion to associate professor during the Spring of 2002. He was promoted to Professor in 2009, and made Associate Dean of Engineering for Academic and Student Affairs. Ole Miss is located in Oxford, Mississippi, which was once the home of William Faulkner. We really enjoy the area and the people.
Hudson Reid was born on September 12, 1997. He's all boy, what else can I say. He rides his bike, he loves to play soccer and watch any sport with a ball. He has a soft heart and asks thousands of questions. Maren Grace was born June 14, 1997. She loves to read, draw pictures, does numerous arts and crafts, and ride horses with Momma! We are home-schooling and both are doing very well. It is incredible watching them develop. They both enjoy helping daddy cook and are great workers around the "ranch". They both did .22 through 4H this year. We have killed two rattlers and a couple of opossums around "the ranch".
For some pictures, see The O's Pic Page .
We bought some land in the country a few years ago and now have our house and a barn for our 3 horses. We also have two goats, 3 dogs and 4 cats. Kevie is keeping VERY busy. She has a bachelors in psychology from the University of Utah, and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. She has done therapy with young kids, and recently worked for Bethany Christian Services helping people with the adoption process. Most of the time, however, she "just" takes very good care of Hudson and Maren, including her part of the homeschooling, while trying to squeeze in as much time as possible to ride the horses!
John teaches chemical engineering courses, does research is surface chemistry and surfactants, and is involved in k-12 math and science outreach. John has a bachelors and masters in secondary education, and a Ph.D in chemical engineering, all from the University of Oklahoma. John taught high school for 12 years before going back to school to get his engineering degree.
Kevie and I enjoy playing with our family, growing and cooking with herbs, horseback riding, reading, watching good movies, taking walks, trying new foods, quiet evenings at home (rare and usually not so quiet now!), trips to new places, fellowship with friends.... did I mention reading? Our place is really pretty, woods, pasture, two springs and a year-round creek, and two of the borders are national forest!! We are very blessed..
