I am currently funded by the National Park Service to examine the effects of fire and hurricanes on dune plant communities on Horn Island and other barrier islands in the Mississippi Sound. In particular, I am examining the effects of an arson fire on Horn Island on populations of Florida rosemary, woody goldenrod, and slash pine. In addition, I am beginning to investigate the effects of Hurricane Katrina on these and other dune species.
