Jon earned a fellowship from Teacher's College, Columbia University, where he completed two more masters' degrees and his doctorate in science education. He has, on occasion, taught summer school classes in the School of Education. Family situations have taken him back to Little Rock to live and teach.
Jon and his family have been thoroughly involved at Ole Miss. His older brother, Jerry taught in, then headed the Department of Education Administration for a number of years; he is now Dean of the School of Education at Eastern Michigan University. Jon's twin brother, Don, also completed a master's degree in secondary education at Ole Miss; he now teaches social studies at North Little Rock High School.
There is certainly a lot of truth in the saying that, "You can graduate from the University of Mississippi, but you can never graduate from Ole Miss." Jon has a true love for Ole Miss, and the memorabilia in his chemistry classroom at North Little Rock High School constantly reminds his students that Jon "Doc" Robbins holds a great love for, and is thoroughly committed to, the University of Mississippi.
