KMOS Acquires Amiga

New Hope for Amiga!

In July, 2004, KMOS Inc. has annouced the total acquistion of Amiga Inc. Initially, KMOS purchased the Amiga OS from Amiga, Inc. This gave KMOS control over AmigaOS 4.0 while Amiga, Inc. kept control over AmigaDE. This will merge the two Amiga entities back under one company.

Important Announcements for Amiga Owners

New Amiga Kickstart/Workbench 3.9

· Amiga Inc. has announced the release of the new Amiga OS 3.9 for its classic line of computers. This new version of the Amiga Kickstart/Workbench for the Motorola-based 'Amiga Classic' line of personal computers will provide a bridge to the next generation Amiga. New key features include: (1.) Re-targetable Audio (RTA) Support, (2.)Re-targetable Graphics (RTG) Support, (3.) CD-Filing System (CDFS) Support, (4.) PowerPC Co-Processor support built-in, (5.) Internet Ready (TCP/IP Stack is now included), and (6.) a newly updated and refined interface. This new 3.9 OS update only is available on CD-ROM discs (finally!) and requires 3.1 Kickstart ROMs. Other key updates to 3.9 are: AsyncWB allowing asynchronous copying and delete functionality to the Workbench, an enhanced multimedia players (including MP3, Windows AVI, Apple QuickTime and CD-audio formats) and many others upgrades.

· The Boing Ball is back! Amiga International has brought back the "Boing Ball" as the official logo of the Amiga. The Boing Ball was the original logo for the Amiga before it was acquired by Commodore Business Machines.
